What is an earthquake?
An earthquake happens when two tectonic plates slide past each other creating a vibration in the fault known as the start of an earthquake.

What are the parts of an earthquake?
There are four different kinds of parts in an earthquake.
- There is the hypocenter which is the underground in which the earthquake starts.
- On top of that hypocenter is the focus which is where all the rocks break and eventually ends the whole earthquake.
- Meanwhile the epicenter is the surface of the earth where the earthquake mainly starts and ends with the most force.
THE TYPES OF FAULTS
What are the different kinds of earthquakes?
There are three different earthquakes.
1.The are foreshocks earthquakes which is a pre-earthquake which is smaller than the mainshock.
2.Then there is the main shock which is the biggest earthquake of all three.
3.Finally, last but not least, there is the aftershock which is after the main shock and but is smaller than the main shock. The problem with them is it can last seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, or even centuries.
What kind of faults are there?
There are also three different kinds of faults.
1.Strike slip faults are the kind of faults in which tectonic plates slide past each other horizontally which mainly causes the highest magnitude earthquake.
2.There are also normal faults which are like slip dips or slide down formed by divergent boundaries and are normally the smallest earthquakes are formed there.
3.Finally there are reverse faults are formed with convergent boundaries and also make the biggest earthquake too.

EARTHS INSIDE
What are the parts of the earth where earthquake starts?
There are 4 parts in the earth.
The top of the mantle and the crust are the main layers of all 20 tectonic plates.
Finally, the plate boundaries are made up of fault which is where most earthquakes happen.
